AIXTRON’s new manufacturing & engineering hub in Malaysia

We are building a new greenfield manufacturing and engineering hub in Batu Kawan, Penang. The site will provide a state-of-the-art cleanroom environment for assembly & testing of our high-end systems and will contribute to engineering for the next generation of products. Operations are planned to start in 2027 with a rapid ramp-up. Beyond technology, the new location is designed as a modern workplace with state-of-the art office and amenities —built to foster collaboration and a strong focus on people's wellbeing.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for purpose-driven builders: hands-on professionals with entrepreneurial spirit who enjoy setting up structures, improving processes and taking ownership in a fast-moving environment. As pioneers of our Malaysia site, you will help to shape not only your function, but also how we work together locally — while being connected to a global team of around 1,000 employees from ~60 nationalities across Asia, Europe and the US. We offer competitive benefits, outstanding technical expertise, development opportunities and training.

About the role

Be at the forefront of bringing AIXTRON's cutting-edge systems to life. In this hands-on role, you will apply your combined electrical and mechanical skills to commission, test and qualify our advanced equipment -- ensuring every system performs to the highest standards before delivery to our customers.

You will commission PLC-controlled assemblies and critical components such as proximity, temperature and pressure sensors. Working to structured test procedures, you will systematically bring complex electromechanical systems online -- from individual sub-assemblies through to full system qualification. You will perform precision mechanical adjustment and alignment work on our reactors, troubleshoot and test pneumatic valve control systems, and read and interpret technical schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings .

Beyond commissioning, you will complete detailed test documentation, support cross-functional teams with your technical expertise, and help maintain a safe, organised and high-performing test environment. There may also be opportunities to provide support at international customer sites -- expanding your impact beyond the factory floor.

If you enjoy solving technical challenges at the intersection of electrical and mechanical engineering, working with advanced technology and seeing complex systems come to life -- this is the role for you.

Responsibilities

  • Electrical and mechanical commissioning of AIXTRON MOCVD systems according to standardised test procedures
  • Commissioning of PLC-controlled assemblies
  • Leak-tightness checks and verification of gas/vacuum systems
  • Systematic and stepwise commissioning of complete systems -- from sub-assembly through to full system level
  • Commissioning and calibration of proximity sensors, temperature sensors and pressure sensors
  • Precision mechanical adjustment and alignment tasks on MOCVD reactors
  • Commissioning and testing of pneumatic valve control systems
  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings
