About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Junior IT Infrastructure Engineer – Delivery and Projects to join our IT Infrastructure team at AIXTRON.

This role combines technical infrastructure activities, project delivery, operational improvements, and cross-functional collaboration. You will support the operation and continuous improvement of IT Infrastructure services, contribute to hands-on technical activities, and take ownership of selected infrastructure projects and initiatives.

You will also support the maintenance of the IT Infrastructure backlog and roadmap by helping assess priorities, track dependencies and risks, coordinate activities across teams, and ensure that agreed work progresses to completion.

The role is ideal for a junior professional who enjoys solving technical problems, improving IT services, and working with colleagues across the organization.

 

Your challenge

  • Support the operation, maintenance, and improvement of IT Infrastructure services.
  • Perform hands-on technical activities in areas such as:
    • Servers and operating systems.
    • Cloud infrastructure.
    • Onprem Virtualization.
    • Storage, backup, and recovery.
    • Monitoring, logging, and alerting.
    • Identity and access management.
    • Workplace and endpoint infrastructure.
    • Infrastructure security and vulnerability remediation.
    • Infrastructure automation and configuration management.
  • Support infrastructure upgrades, migrations, patching, and lifecycle activities.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, incident management, problem management, and change implementation.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, operating procedures, diagrams, and knowledge articles.
  • Take ownership of selected infrastructure projects, work packages, and improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare implementation plans, action lists, risk logs, test plans, rollback plans, and handover documentation.
  • Track progress, follow up on actions, identify blockers, and escalate risks or delays.
  • Coordinate dependencies across IT Infrastructure domains and other IT teams.
  • Support the maintenance and prioritization of the Infrastructure backlog and roadmap.
  • Help assess activities based on technical effort, urgency, business value, risk, user impact, cost, and capacity.
  • Support stakeholder communication and ensure that user and business requirements are considered.
  • Contribute to cost tracking and develop an understanding of CAPEX, OPEX, budgets, forecasts, licensing, and supplier costs.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and continuous improvement.

The skills needed

  • 2 – 4 years of professional experience in IT Infrastructure, IT Operations, Systems Administration, Cloud Operations, Workplace Infrastructure, or a related technical area.
  • Practical experience supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, or improving IT Infrastructure services.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure changes, upgrades, migrations, or technical improvement initiatives.
  • Initial experience working in an agile, Scrum, Kanban, ITIL, or similar environment.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, implementation plans, or operating procedures.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Proactive and hands-on approach, with the ability to follow activities through to completion.
  • Fluent English at C1 or C2 level.
