AIXTRON is a world leading manufacturer of semiconductor equipment and the AIXTRON Ltd facility in Cambridgeshire manufactures key MOCVD (Metal Organic Chemical Vapour Deposition) systems for the group. Our MOCVD systems are used to produce (opto) electronics for 5G, fibre communications, lasers, LEDs for displays and power electronics for electric vehicles and chargers.

As part of a multi-disciplined team and a modern Engineering department, this Graduate Electrical Controls Engineer role involves the continuous improvement of the Company’s world leading products through leading-edge electrical design. You will be expected to implement effective solutions to ensure the Company’s MOCVD systems remain at the forefront of technology whilst keeping up to date with current standards and legislation. This role will engage with many aspects of the electrical design and testing of our products and consequently there will be the opportunity for the successful candidate to develop alongside the needs of the business.

Objectives and Responsibilities:

  • Configure system designs and controls to meet customer order requirements.
  • Work closely with production to resolve issues identified during build and testing.
  • Provide technical support during system installation phases.
  • Responsible for adhering to standards that AIXTRON Ltd set to ensure safety at work, which includes following procedures, handling machinery and substances correctly, and participating in any safety training required.  You will find the core Health and Safety responsibilities in the Health and Safety System Overview document.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Engineering / Scientific degree or equivalent experience.
  • Understanding of the fields of field-bus systems (DeviceNet, Ethercat) and PLC control.
  • Knowledge in the design of drive systems, pneumatic control, and automation technology.
  • Experience in control of electro-pneumatic/mechanical systems, 3-phase power distribution and heater control systems.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation, directives and standards for machinery design.
  • Experience of E-Plan software.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Detail-oriented, with a consistent and organised approach to work.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Working Environment and Benefits:
